Held at the end of summer at Meriken Park, “Kobe Umi no Bon-odori” is the biggest Bon-odori festival in Japan’s Kansai region.
Started in 1993 and welcoming its 26th year in 2018, the bon-odori has now become an iconic summer event of Kobe.
The most striking feature of this event is being able to dance to live performances of Japanese traditional folk songs. We will have a giant Yagura stage, where people of all ages will gather around and dance in a large circle together. This year, we have even planned some special features that people of all nationalities can enjoy!
On top of the traditional folk songs gathered from all around Japan, we will be dancing Kobe’s very own bon-odori as well. A wide range of multicultural food stalls (called yatai) will also be available for you to choose from.
Come and make some special summer memories at Meriken Park!
Let's all have fun and dance together!
